Pakistan’s National Folk Festival Promoting Cultural Tourism

ISLAMABAD: The National Folk Festival “Lok Mela” in Pakistan’s capital city is promoting cultural tourism as a large number of local tourists coming from different parts of the country to enjoy the amazing mega event in Islamabad.

An official from the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) said that the biggest folk festival in the country, called Lok Mela, continued from 3 to 12 November. It is organized by the National Heritage and Culture Division at Lok Virsa.

He said that the festival was attracting tourists massively by serving them with traditional and cultural treats, featuring a variety of activities such as food stalls, shopping at traditional stalls, provincial pavilions, and music programmes that reflected and unveiled the rich cultural diversity of Pakistan.

Fascinating Festival at Lok Mela

The official said that the exceptional festival was fascinating and encouraged folk lovers to throng Islamabad and enjoy the music, arts, traditional dances, and handicrafts.

He added that the cultural nights are also part of the unique folk mela that also entrains the tourists.

It is to be noted that the festival being organized under the theme ‘Peace and Harmony through Cultural Diversity’ offers a great opportunity to enjoy the rich culture of all the provinces.
