Pakistan’s President Condoles Chinese Embassy Over Killing of Chinese Citizens

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari visited the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad on Wednesday to extend condolences on behalf of Pakistan following the terrorist attack in Northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that left five Chinese citizens dead.

During his visit, President Zardari strongly condemned the Shangla terrorist attack and expressed solidarity with the Chinese people, stating that the Pakistani nation shares their grief.

He reassured the Chinese ambassador, Jiang Zaidong, that Pakistan stands united with China and will take necessary steps to apprehend the criminals responsible for the heinous act and ensure the safety of Chinese citizens working in Pakistan.

President Zardari said that the strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and China were being targeted by regional adversaries, emphasizing the need for increased counter-terrorism cooperation and enhanced security measures for Chinese workers.

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong appreciated the president’s personal visit and the widespread condemnation of the terrorist attack by Pakistanis.

He highlighted the significant contributions of Chinese workers to Pakistan’s socio-economic development and reiterated China’s commitment to supporting projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

President Zardari also registered his sentiments in the visitor’s book, condemning the attack as an attempt by enemies to disrupt the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China.

He affirmed Pakistan’s unwavering determination to combat terrorism and protect shared goals of peace, prosperity, and regional security.
