LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recently acquired a building adjacent to the Gaddafi Stadium, aiming to alleviate accommodation challenges for both national and international players.

Reports suggest that the board finalized the purchase of this multi-storey structure for Rs4 billion. Originally planned as an apartment complex, the building will undergo significant renovations to transform it into a fully functional hotel.

Construction on the building had commenced several years ago under a different initiative, but was suspended due to security concerns raised by the PCB. Consequently, the builder, who had initially sold flats in advance, faced legal complications and eventually offered the property to the PCB.

This strategic move not only resolves the pressing accommodation needs of players but also eases the financial strain on the board, which previously incurred substantial expenses for player lodging at a private hotel in Lahore.

Moreover, this development is expected to benefit the public by minimizing disruptions caused by team movements, as there will be no need for extensive road closures.
