PCB to Appoint Gary Kirsten, Jason Gillespie as National Team Coaches

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to appoint South Africa’s Gary Kirsten and Australia’s Jason Gillespie as the coaches for the men’s national side, a private television channel reported on Saturday quoting sources.

According to detail, former cricketer and Coach Gary Kirsten would be appointed for the T20 and ODI games while Australian Jason Gillespie has been pecked as the red-ball coach for the test games.

The Cricket Board would officially announce the decision a few days later as it has advertised the posts on its website seeking applications till April 15. The final decision would be made after the completion of the official and technical formalities.

However, it would be finalized before the T20I series against New Zealand which begins on the 18th of this month. This would follow the major and crucial assignment for the Pakistan cricket team to compete in the T20 World Cup which would be held in the United States and West Indies in June. 2024.

In addition, the PCB has also announced a position for the assistant head coach and as per the advertisement, the desired candidates could apply for the post by April 20. The requirement for the assistant coach comprises minimum level II coaching accreditation and three years of experience with international teams, franchise or domestic teams.
