PESHAWAR: Concerned with the “very poor” performance of Peshawar’s government schools in the SSC examination 2023, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education sought data from the institutions to take stern action against the responsible administrators.

According to a letter from the department, district education officers (DEO), both male and female, were asked to explain why the government schools’ SSC exam results fell below 50%. They were also asked to provide information about the subject teachers, enrollment in classes 9 and 10, and the subject-specific result percentage for both classes.

Due to their poor scores on the matriculation tests, the department has decided to take strict action against the DEOs and the subject professors.

According to the Education Board of Peshawar, the result of Government Higher Secondary School Khawaida Khel was zero percent, GGHS Hazar Khwani (Science) five, Achini Payan School eight, Wazir Bagh 26 percent, GGHSS Sufaid Sang and GHSS No 2 Peshawar Cantt 27 percent, GGHS Civil Quarters 28, GGHSS BSD 30, GGHSS University Town and GGHS City Railway Station 31, GGHS Hazar Khwani (Art) 33, GGHS Wazir Bagh 41, GGHS Dabgari Gate 47, GGHSS Khyber Colony and GGHS Kukar 48. —APP
