ROME: Pope Francis on Sunday urged political leaders to pause and make efforts to mediate and negotiate a path to peace in the Middle East and Ukraine.

During his Sunday address, Pope Francis pleaded political leaders worldwide, urging them to prioritize efforts to mediate and negotiate paths to peace.

Speaking to the faithful gathered for the Regina Coeli address in Rome, the pontiff emphasized the critical need for a just and lasting peace, especially in the tormented regions of Ukraine and Palestine-Israel. He implored believers not to waver in their prayers for peace, emphasizing the importance of spiritual support in these troubled times.

The pontiff’s plea for peace comes amidst ongoing violence and unrest in both Ukraine and Gaza, with civilians bearing the brunt of the suffering. Pope Francis has consistently advocated for an end to the hostilities, urging leaders to prioritize the well-being of their citizens and engage in constructive dialogue to achieve lasting peace.

Earlier in the week, Pope Francis reiterated his call for humanitarian aid to reach the civilian populations affected by the conflicts. He also urged for the immediate release of hostages held in these regions, highlighting the plight of innocent individuals caught in the midst of violence and turmoil.
