President IFAC calls on Finance Minister

ISLAMABAD: President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Asmaa Resmouki, met with Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister of Finance and Revenue, on Monday.

According to a press release, SAPM on Finance Tariq Bajwa, SAPM/Chairman of RRMC Ashfaq Yousuf Tola, and senior officers from the Finance Division attended the meeting.

Finance Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar greeted Asmaa Resmouki, President of IFAC, and congratulated her on becoming the organization’s first Muslim lady president.

Emphasizing the role of accountants in a country’s economic development, the Finance Minister emphasized the importance of high-quality corporate reporting based on international standards in mobilizing financial resources and reducing corruption and mismanagement.

Ishaq Dar also discussed the country’s economic and financial outlook and the government’s determination to overcome economic challenges and steer the economy toward growth.

IFAC president apprises Finance Minister of significance of accounting

Asmaa Resmouki, President of IFAC, emphasized IFAC’s role as the global voice for the accounting profession, stating that IFAC serves the public interest through advocacy, development, and support for member organizations.

She also discussed global economic challenges and, in this context, praised the government of Pakistan’s economic policies and programs aimed at achieving long-term economic development.

In November 2022, Asmaa Resouki was elected President of IFAC. She was appointed Deputy President of IFAC in November 2020, after serving on the IFAC board since November 2017.
