RAWALPINDI: Peshawar Zalmi unleashed a batting onslaught against Multan Sultans, setting a daunting target of 205 runs in the 21st match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Peshawar Zalmi’s openers, Saim Ayub and skipper Babar Azam, laid the foundation for a formidable total with a commanding 84-run partnership. Babar Azam’s leadership at the crease was instrumental as he contributed a crucial 64 runs to the team’s tally, supported adeptly by Saim Ayub, who notched up an impressive 46 runs.
The Peshawar Zalmi’s batting depth was on full display as contributions from Haseebullah Khan (31), Rovman Powell (23), Aamer Jamal (12), and Asif Ali (11) propelled the team to a commanding total of 204/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
Usama Mir emerged as the standout performer for Multan Sultans with the ball, clinching three crucial wickets, while Chris Jordan provided valuable support with two dismissals.
Multan Sultans will need a strong batting performance to chase down the imposing target set by Peshawar Zalmi. With Mohammad Rizwan leading the charge, Multan Sultans will rely on their batting lineup featuring the likes of Reeza Hendricks, Dawid Malan, and Khushdil Shah to mount a successful pursuit.
