PTI Leader, Supporters Arrested for Law-and-Order Violation

MULTAN: Police have arrested two senior political leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and his supporters for violating law and order while submitting nomination papers at the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office here on Wednesday.

According to police sources, PTI leader Malik Amir Dogar and his supporters have been arrested by the police. However, the identification of others involved in violation was under process, and they would also be arrested soon, police sources informed.

It is pertinent to mention that about seven political workers of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) sustained injuries during a brawl at the office of ECP. The local leadership of PML-N and PTI submitted their nomination papers for by-elections in NA 155 and NA 156. The supporters of both political parties started chanting slogans in support of their party leaders.

In the meantime, supporters of PTI and PML-N attacked each other. Seven PML N workers were injured, including Hameed, Khalid, Rana Ishtiaq, Abdur Rehman, and three others. Similarly, PTI leadership also claimed injury to their workers. Both sides started pelting stones, which also caused partial loss to the building of the Election Commission.

City Police Officer Mansoor ul Haq Rana stated that there was a shortage of police contingent as it was making arrangements for PSL security. However, he added that the attackers would be traced through CCTV footage and brought to justice very soon.
