MUZAFFARGARH: The wheat crop spanning hundreds of acres suffered extensive flooding in various areas of Kot Addu, situated near the Indus River, resulting in significant losses for local farmers. Local farmers reported a sudden increase in the water level of the Indus River due to heavy rainfall, with the water level at Head Taunsa Barrage also rising. Areas such as Qaimwala, Nishanwala, Chichraywala, and others were severely flooded. This inundation led to substantial damage to the wheat crops, causing losses amounting to millions of rupees.

Farmers like Allah Dittah, Khair Muhammad, Darwaish, Abdur Raheem, and others expressed deep concern over the financial setbacks. Approximately 400 wheat bags owned by different farmers were submerged due to river erosion, and the farmers were unable to retrieve them in time.

In light of these challenges, the farmers have appealed to the government for compensation to alleviate their losses, as they anticipate difficulties in sustaining their livelihoods.
