Recipe for Potato Bread Patties of Karachi and Lahore

ISLAMABAD: Potato Bread Patties offer a quick and convenient snack option for tea-time or packing in your lunchbox. These delightful patties feature a flavourful potato filling nestled within the bread, making them an effortless snack choice.


500 g Potatoes, boiled

1/4 cup Capsicum, chopped

1/4 cup Onion, chopped

1/4 cup Carrot, chopped

1 tsp Salt (or to taste)

1 tsp Coriander powder

Bread slices, as needed

3 tbsp Oil

For the Sweet Chutney:

1/4 cup Mint leaves

1/4 cup Green coriander

2-3 Green chillies

1/4 cup Tamarind pulp

2 tbsp Lemon juice

2 tbsp Sugar

1 cup Ketchup

1/4 tsp Salt (or to taste)


Heat oil in a pan and sauté capsicum, onion, and carrot for 1-2 minutes. Add cumin powder, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, and coriander powder. Mix well.

Add the boiled potatoes and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Stir in the coriander and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.

Trim the edges of the bread slices. Spread the potato mixture onto the slices and moisten the edges with water.

Fold the edges to form round patties and fry them until golden brown.

To prepare the hari chutney, blend mint leaves, green coriander, green chillies, tamarind pulp, lemon juice, sugar, salt, and ketchup until smooth.

Your Potato Bread Patties are now ready to enjoy. Serve with the prepared hari chutney on the side.
