Royal Saudi Air Force Participates in Multinational Exercise in Greece

RIYADH: The Royal Saudi Air Force took part in the multinational air exercise INIOCHOS 2024, arranged at the Air Tactics Center in Greece, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Over the course of two weeks, air forces from several nations carried out a variety of simulated combat air operations, involving command of air missions and campaigns, planning cells, intelligence missions and forward air control tasks during close air support operations, according to Saudi Press Agency.

Lt. Col. Abdulaziz Al-Harbi, the commanding pilot of the Saudi contingent in the exercise, said that months of preparation resulted in achieving planned objectives at all levels.

He appreciated the efforts of the Saudi air, technical and support crews, who demonstrated high readiness and professionalism.

INIOCHOS is one of Europe’s largest military drills. Deployment started on April 1 and continued until April 7, while the secondary execution phase began on April 8 and ended on April 18. The third phase of the exercise, force redeployment, was held from April 19-21.

Royal Saudi Air Force’s Aircraft

The Royal Saudi Air Force sent 6 Typhoon aircraft along with air, technical and support crews to the drills, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense said.

The RSAF members aimed to enhance readiness, simulate a real war environment, exchange expertise, and plan complex air operations in an environment involving multinational forces, the ministry added.

Participating nations included Cyprus, Qatar, Romania, Spain, France, Montenegro, Britain, and the US.
