LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) disgruntled leader Sardar Latif Khosa on Sunday announced he was joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) “on the wish” of incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan.

Khosa said that he has joined PTI only in the interest of democracy and the country, adding that he wanted to raise his voice vigorously for the truth.

He made the announcement in a press conference in Lahore, wherein the senior politician hoped that the politics of hatred would end. He said that the constitution of Pakistan is a civil agreement that has the characteristics of all welfare states.

Khosa said the country and people suffered whenever the constitution was deviated from. Pakistan can be developed if we follow the constitution. It has a solution for every problem if it is implemented in its true spirit. He said the idea of Pakistan was presented by a lawyer, Barrister Allama Muhammed Iqbal, and it was executed by Barrister Muhammed Ali Jinnah.

The senior politician said that he has dedicated his services to PTI, and he is free to join the party of his choosing. He said that 250 million people in the country are looking towards the judiciary to ensure a level playing field for all political parties in the run-up to polls on February 8 next year.

The rare development comes at a time when PTI is facing an exodus with leaders including Asad Umar, Shireen Mazari, Pervez Khattak, and several others, who have already parted ways with the former prime minister Imran Khan following the May 9 incidents.

Khosa, also a member of Imran Khan’s legal team, said on December 4 that Khan had invited him to join PTI.

PPP Suspends Khosa’s Party Membership

On September 22, PPP had suspended Khosa’s party membership after he did not reply to the show-cause notice issued against him for breaching the party policy.

Secretary General Nayyar Bokhari had also suspended Khosa’s membership in the Central Executive Committee.

On September 14, PPP had issued a notice to him for defending the head of another political party — the PTI — without approval, asking why action should not be taken against him.
