MAKKAH: Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has warned pilgrims about fake Hajj companies for 2024, stressing that a Hajj visa issued by the authorities or official channels is mandatory, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday.

According to the ministry these companies often advertise on social media in various countries.

The ministry lauded the Iraqi Supreme Commission for Hajj and Umrah’s cooperation with law enforcement, leading to the arrest of over 25 fake Hajj companies.

It also praised similar efforts by some other countries to combat this illegal practice.

The ministry monitors fake Hajj company advertisements abroad actively and urges everyone to report them.

The cooperation is vital to reducing the occurrence of pilgrimage without a permit. The ministry advised pilgrims to visit its website and social media channels for official information.
