Serena Hotels, Behbud Association Jointly Organize Handicraft Eid Bazaar

ISLAMABAD: Serena Hotels under the Cultural Diplomacy initiative collaborated with the Behbud Association to jointly arrange the two-day Handicraft Eid Bazaar to support female artisans from all over Pakistan and to foster their economic empowerment.

The chief guest of the event, the Ambassador of Austria Andrea Wicke, who inaugurated the Eid Bazaar said, this is a way to celebrate the creativity and artistry of home-based workers.

The envoy said that as she understood the educational passion required to create beautiful pieces of art, she was particularly delighted to witness the exquisite craftsmanship at the event.

The two-day bazaar aimed to celebrate the creativity and strength of home-based workers and female artisans across the country, who are crafting remarkable artefacts despite facing challenging circumstances.

Diverse Array of Traditional Crafts in Eid Bazaar

Guests were treated to a diverse array of traditional crafts and needlework originating from different regions of Pakistan, including Hand & Machine Embroidery, Kantha, Chikankari, Ralli, Block Printing, Taarkashi, Phulkari, Crochet, Smocking, Cutwork, Cross-stitch, Knitting, and more.

The artisans graced the stalls, offering live demonstrations of their techniques and crafts. The exhibition attracted a large number of visitors, who thoroughly enjoyed exploring the intricate craftsmanship on display.

Abida Malik, the President of the Behbud Association, said that Behbud has been steadily working in the pursuit of the economic empowerment of females from the most overlooked communities.

By investing in females, Behbud was investing in the future of communities and Pakistan, she said.

Abida Malik added that they recognized the talent and potential that women possess, and it was their mission to foster an environment where they can succeed.
