ISLAMABAD: The Standing Investment Facilitation Committee (SIFC) has approved the establishment of Pakistan’s largest IT Park in the federal capital, Islamabad.

The IT Park will cover an extensive area of 3.3 acres and will be built in the G-10 sector of Islamabad. This decision signals a major advancement for Pakistan’s growing tech sector, offering remarkable opportunities for innovation and progress.

Discussions are underway with key stakeholders such as the Pakistan Software Export Board and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication to ensure the successful implementation of the IT Park project.

These collaborative efforts highlight the government’s dedication to creating a favorable environment for technological innovation and entrepreneurship, positioning Pakistan as a leader in the digital landscape.

The envisioned IT Park aims to become a center of technological advancement, featuring a range of facilities to foster creativity and entrepreneurship.

These include a state-of-the-art research center, a well-equipped library, software houses, conference rooms, dedicated spaces for freelancers and startups, and an exhibition area for showcasing IT products.

Operating under a public-private partnership framework, the IT Park project holds great promise for Pakistan’s growing freelance economy. Around six thousand freelancers are expected to benefit from access to top-tier facilities, enabling them to make substantial contributions to Pakistan’s economy through e-services.

Importantly, the construction of the IT hub will be funded through collaboration with private IT companies, which will also lease office spaces within the complex. This partnership model is poised to energize Pakistan’s tech ecosystem, driving economic growth and employment opportunities in the digital sector.
