SC Adjourns Hearing of Suo motu Notice About IHC Judges’ Letter

ISLAMABAD:  The Supreme Court of Pakistan has adjourned the hearing of a suo motu notice about the matter raised by six judges of Islamabad High Court (IHC) in a letter, local media reported on Wednesday.

A seven-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa heard the case today.

During the course of proceedings today, the CJP, however mentioned that a full court may hear the matter from the next hearing on the 29 or 30 April.

The Attorney General of Pakistan has submitted that the government believes in the independence of judiciary. On behalf of the federal government, the Attorney General assured to extend complete cooperation to the court to address this issue.

Earlier on the day, the Supreme Court of Pakistan began the hearing of its suo motu notice taken on the letter written by Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges, local media reported.
