SYDNEY: Taylor Swift’s father will not face charges following allegations by a paparazzi photographer that he assaulted him on the Sydney waterfront shortly after the conclusion of the pop star’s Australian tour last month.

Photographer Ben McDonald claimed that one of Swift’s security guards pushed an umbrella into his face and camera and that Scott Swift subsequently punched him at the Neutral Bay Wharf, where the father and daughter had just disembarked from a yacht on February 27.

In response, Taylor Swift’s representatives accused members of the media of being aggressive during the encounter. Police initiated an investigation into the incident at that time and announced on Wednesday that “no further police action” would be pursued. “No offences were detected, and the investigation was concluded with no further police action required,” stated the New South Wales Police Force.

During the Australian leg of her Eras Tour, which comprised seven stadium concerts, Taylor Swift performed to over 600,000 fans. Her tour set records, reportedly exceeding $1 billion in revenue last year, and the film adaptation of the tour quickly rose to the top of the box office, becoming the highest-grossing concert film to date.
