Ukraine Says Several Civilians Killed in Russian Attacks in South and East

KYIV: Russian shelling and strikes on Ukraine’s Kherson region killed one person and injured several, with at least two civilians also killed in attacks on the centre and east of the country, Kyiv confirmed on Saturday.

The southern Kherson region witnessed one fatality and multiple injuries following Russian attacks, including the death of a 58-year-old woman in the village of Olhivka along the Dnipro River. Additionally, a child was wounded when a Russian air bomb struck near a residential building in the city of Kherson, causing significant damage.

In a separate incident, a teenage boy lost his life in the central Dnipropetrovsk region while walking with his elder brother in the village of Chervonogrygorivka. The 16-year-old succumbed to his wounds, while his brother sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Russian Attacks on Ukraine

Meanwhile, in the embattled eastern Donetsk region, a man was fatally wounded in the frontline town of Chasiv Yar, adding to the toll of civilian casualties in the conflict.

Authorities in Donetsk also reported the evacuation of nearly 200 persons, including 21 children, from frontline villages amidst intensified fighting.

Kyiv’s air force announced the downing of 12 out of 15 drones deployed by Russia over the eastern Donetsk region, as well as the central Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions, highlighting ongoing efforts to counter aerial threats.
