LONDON: British Foreign Secretary David Cameron has described the UK’s mechanism of arms exports to Israel as completely different from those in the United States, saying the sales it licenses were relatively small and regulated by strict procedures.

According to Western media on Thursday Cameron made the remarks while responding to a question on whether Britain would follow the US after it warned that it would withhold arms from Israel if goes ahead with a major invasion of Rafah.

Cameron after the speech said there is a very major difference between the US situation and the UK situation.

He added that the US is a major supplier of arms to Israel but Britain does not have a supply of weapons to Israel.

The Foreign Secretary said the UK has a number of licenses, and its defense exports to Israel are responsible for significantly less than 1 percent of their total.

Israel’s relentless bombardment campaign has so far killed at least 34,904 Palestinian people in Gaza, mostly women and children, according to the Hamas-run territory’s health ministry.
