Uzbekistan’s President to Visit China for High-Level Talks

TASHKENT: Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a three-day official visit to China from January 23 to 25, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said on Friday.

Hua Chunying stated, “At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will visit China on January 23-25.”

During his visit, he will hold high-level discussions and various bilateral meetings hosted in Beijing. The agenda will focus on enhancing the comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China and expanding extensive practical cooperation.

President Mirziyoyev’s itinerary includes visits to Chinese regions and meetings with leaders of prominent Chinese companies, along with representatives from banking and financial institutions.

In a significant development in 2023, Uzbekistan and China committed to boosting the trade turnover between the two nations to $20 billion over the next five years. Both countries also expressed keen interest in collaborating on the joint production of innovative products with high added value.
