Widespread Rains Claim 21 Lives in Northwest Pakistan

PESHAWAR: Widespread rainfall across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa resulted in the loss of 21 lives and injuries to 32 individuals, with 330 houses damaged in various incidents.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that over the past four days, 21 casualties were reported, including nine children, nine males, and three females. Among the injured were five women, 23 men, and four children.

The affected areas included Khyber, Dir Upper and Lower, Chitral Lower, Swat, Bajaur, Shangla, Mansehra, Mohmand, Malakand, Karak, Tank, Mardan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Buner, Hangu, Battagram, Bannu, North Waziristan, Kohat, and Orakzai.

Responding to the crisis, district administrations and relevant authorities swiftly provided aid to the victims.

PDMA stepped in by delivering relief supplies to Swat, Peshawar, and Mohmand districts, which included 200 tents, 100 kitchen sets, 200 blankets, 100 hygiene kits, 100 mats, 200 mosquito nets, 200 mattresses, and other essential items for each district.

Additionally, PDMA dispatched 200 tents specifically for Lower Chitral, as stated by an authority spokesperson.
