NEW YORK: Microsoft has announced that Windows 11 users will soon have access to the same lock screen decorations currently being tested for Windows 10. These decorations, presented as small lock screen cards, offer users various snippets of information spanning traffic updates, weather forecasts, financial data, and sports scores.

According to reports from reputable Windows leaker PhantomOfEarth, Microsoft is currently deploying these embellishments in the Release Preview channel for Windows 11 test builds. The rollout of these lock screen cards for Windows 11 is occurring in build 22631.3371 (KB5035942), mirroring the functionality already seen in Windows 10.

Similar to their Windows 10 counterpart, users of Windows 11 will have the option to enable or disable these lock screen cards. However, it’s worth noting that individual card customization, such as choosing which cards to display, is currently unavailable. For instance, while users can’t opt to disable the finance card specifically, they can choose to disable all lock screen cards altogether if desired.

PhantomOfEarth initially brought attention to these cards during testing, with Windows Latest also acknowledging their presence as part of the optional March 2024 upgrade. As a result, these lock screen enhancements are anticipated to be fully integrated into Windows 11 through a cumulative update expected to roll out the following month.

Microsoft’s decision to extend these features to Windows 11 users underscores its commitment to ensuring consistency and improving the overall usability of its operating system across different versions.
