Xi, Putin Allege US Pursuing Dual Containment Policy Against China and Russia: Kremlin

MOSCOW: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin have voiced mutual concerns over what they perceive as the United States’ attempts to “contain” their respective countries, according to statements from the Kremlin as reported by AFP.

Following a phone call between the two leaders, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov stated that Xi and Putin acknowledged the implementation of a policy of “dual containment” by the US, targeting both Russia and China, AFP reported.

Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of strategic collaboration between China and Russia in defending their sovereignty, security, and development interests. He underscored the need to oppose external interference in their internal affairs.

Putin, in turn, lauded the unprecedentedly high level of relations between China and Russia, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close ties.

Both leaders expressed optimism about the future of China-Russia relations, highlighting the resilience of their partnership in weathering past challenges and emphasizing the potential for further development and cooperation in the future.
