PARIS: One man was killed and another wounded when an assailant attacked passersby near the Eiffel Tower in central Paris, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said in a statement on Saturday.
French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said that the police have just arrested an assailant attacking passersby in Paris. Gerald Darmanin maintained that one deceased and one wounded treated by the Paris fire brigade. The Minister asked the people to avoid the area due to the incident.

AFP reported that the assailant was born in France and is a French citizen. It added that the wounded person is receiving medical treatment. AFP cited a police source as saying that the assailant was known for psychiatric disorders. As per media reports, a security cordon has been put in place near the Eiffel Tower.
