BAKU: The Azerbaijan International Road Carriers Association (ABADA) and the National Association of Carriers of Bulky and Heavy Goods of Kazakhstan have inked a memorandum aimed at advancing the Middle Corridor, local media reported.

According to ABADA, the signing ceremony took place during a meeting focused on expanding collaboration in cargo transportation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. The gathering delved into challenges encountered by road carriers in both nations within this sector, fostering the growth of transport and logistics services, enhancing support mechanisms for small and medium-sized enterprises, joint initiatives to ensure the sustainable evolution of transportation, promotion of the Middle Corridor, and other pertinent topics, exchanging perspectives on the matters raised.

The Middle Corridor serves as a vital link connecting the container rail freight networks of China and the European Union through Central Asia, the Caucasus, Turkey, and Eastern Europe. A comprehensive multimodal transportation infrastructure integrates ferry terminals on the Caspian and Black Seas with the railway systems of China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Poland.

This corridor facilitates heightened cargo flow from China to Turkey, as well as European countries, and vice versa. Notably, a route train traversing this corridor typically delivers cargo from China to Europe within an average duration of 20–25 days, showcasing a principal advantage of this transport route.
