Bangladesh Wants to Invest Heavily in Pakistan: Dy High Commissioner

SUKKUR: Deputy High Commissioner, Bangladesh, Mehboob Alam has said that Bangladesh and Pakistan had a business and trade agreement worth $800 million, which would be further enhanced up to one billion dollars in near future.

He urged Pakistani businessmen to multiply their efforts and float more garments and other goods to the market.

Addressing a press conference at Sukkur Press Club on Friday evening, the diplomate said that there were scores of opportunities for trade between the two brotherly countries that needed to be exploited.

“Most of the countries in the region are investing in our country, we wish investors from Pakistan to invest in Bangladesh, while the investors from Bangladesh also wants to invest heavily in Pakistan,” he added.

Mehboob Alam further stated that after continuous struggle Bangladesh has ,managed to improve its investment sectors where Bangladeshis inside and outside the country were playing crucial part in its development.

“This year, sufficient number of people from Bangladesh serving abroad have shown new ways of development in the country,” he said.

Bangladesh-Pakistan friendly ties

Mehboob Alam said that Bangladesh believes in establishing friendly relations with all countries with special focus on Pakistan adding that the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh needed to exploit the friendly relations and facilitate business from both sides.

The deputy High Commissioner said that the purpose of his visit was to encourage and motivate business community in Pakistan to channelise their products to the markets in Bangladesh.

Talking about sports diplomacy, Mehboob Alam said that about 27 Pakistani cricketers would take part in Bangladesh Premier League, and similarly, Bangladeshi cricketers loved to participate in PSL in Pakistan.”
