TEHRAN: A BRICS meeting, comprising deputy foreign ministers and special representatives from emerging economies, including Iran, commenced in the Russian capital Moscow on Thursday.

The BRICS meeting aims to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Ali Bagheri Kani, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, led the Iranian delegation at the meeting.

The session commenced with opening remarks by Mikhail Bogdanov, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Special Representative of the President for the Middle East and North Africa.

Subsequently, the United Nations envoy delivered a report addressing the ongoing situation in Gaza, the humanitarian crisis in Palestine, and recent attacks on UN personnel.
