ISLAMABAD/BEIJING: Immigration authorities across China handled 676,000 entries and exits, marking a record high since the outbreak of Covid-19, the National Immigration Administration (NIA) of China said on Tuesday.
Figure jumped 124.2% from average daily exit and entry trips
The NIA statistics indicated that the figure on Monday jumped by 124.2 per cent from the average daily exit and entry trips before China downgraded its Covid-19 management on January 8 and accounted for nearly 37 per cent of the pre-pandemic level.
Land ports with Hong Kong and Macao saw over 568,000 entries and exits on Monday, accounting for 84 per cent of the daily total and increasing by 39.2 per cent from the previous day.
Regular travel between the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao resumed fully on Monday.
