LONDON: A clip of a man hitching a ride from a tanker while sitting in a shopping trolley has been misrepresented on different platforms of social media as taking place in the UK.
A social media user uploaded a video and claiming that this is the situation of the road in the UK. Another user wrote, “M1 heading north.” It may be recalled that the M1 is a stretch of highway linking London to England.

The video was filmed from a passing vehicle and shows the person gripping the rear of the tanker from a shopping trolley. However, Reuters confirmed the areas to be the N1 highway in South Africa, not the UK motorway. The development took place in April 2022, according to local media report. Reuters reported that the video was miscaptioned and termed it misleading.
