Fact-check: Have Shaukat Khanum Hospital’s Accounts been Frozen?

ISLAMABAD: A story claims that the bank accounts of the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital have been frozen, making it very difficult for the staff of hospital to treat patients, local media reported on Wednesday.

However, there is no truth in the story. “Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital is not in position to treat patients as officials have frozen its bank accounts,” a social media post claims a few days ago.  The post has been shared about 5,000 times by social media users.

The hospital’s administration has confirmed that none of the bank accounts of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre has been frozen to date in Pakistan.

An official of the hospital told the media that they have not received any notification from any bank or other regulatory authorities about the ‘freezing’ of bank accounts.

As per media reports and officials of the hospital said that there is no truth in news story about the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital and termed it a false story.
