WASHINGTON: Former President Donald Trump has sent a message to his supporters Monday that appeared to say he was going to suspend his reelection drove, but it turned out to be an April Fools’ fundraising effort.

He sent the unexpected message saying “I am suspending my reelection campaign” to supporters by email and text, accompanied by a link.

But clicking on the link it took users to a site asking them to donate money to his election campaign. “Did you really think I’d suspend my election campaign? Happy April Fools Day!” Trump wrote. It suggests that Trump is not going to suspect his campaign.

FACT CHECK

The Biden team quickly applauded back with a jibe at Trump’s supposedly lazy schedule. “Trump hasn’t campaigned in sixteen days. So not certain what the difference is,” said a member of Biden campaign.

Former President Donald Trump frequently airs his legal griefs, blaming the Biden administration of seeking to jail him, though the former President offers no evidence to prove his claims.
