FBR Seizes Large Quantity of Non-Duty Paid, Counterfeit Cigarettes

ISLAMABAD: In an unprecedented crackdown to eliminate the menace of non-duty paid and counterfeit cigarettes, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) teams have successfully conducted 429 raids in many parts of the country.

The recently carried out raids culminated in the seizure of about 16 million non-duty paid and counterfeit cigarette sticks.

On the orders of Chairman FBR Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana, member Inland Revenue Operations Mir Badshah Khan Wazir supervised the raids.

FBR’s Operations to Halt Illicit Practices

Mir Badshah Khan Wazir said that the success of this exercise would convey a clear message to the duty evaders to halt their illicit practices. He also reiterated to fight against the menace till its logical conclusion.

Wazir further resolved that in the next phase of the drive, criminal proceedings would be started against such culprits.
