ISLAMABAD: The unexpected retirement announcement by Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim has sent ripples across the cricketing fraternity, with fellow cricketers expressing surprise and appreciation for his contributions to the game.

One such response came from Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, who conveyed his astonishment at Imad’s decision, believing the cricketer still had “many years left to excel” in international cricket.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Rizwan posted a message for Imad Wasim, saying, “Surprised to hear about your retirement, @simadwasim, my brother. I firmly believe you still have many years left to excel in international cricket for Pakistan. Keep shining bright!” Accompanying his words was a photo of Imad in the team’s jersey.

Imad Wasim Announces Retirement from International Cricket

Imad Wasim, 34, announced his retirement on November 24, marking the end of his more than eight-year-long association with the national side. Despite not playing for the Green Shirts in recent months, Imad expressed that it was the right time for him to bid adieu to international cricket. He thanked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their support and considered it an honor to represent Pakistan in 121 appearances across ODI and T20I formats.

In his retirement statement, Imad Wasim acknowledged the exciting times ahead for Pakistan cricket with new coaches and leadership. He extended his best wishes to everyone involved, emphasizing his anticipation of watching the team excel.
