SAN FRANCISCO: An image of women in San Francisco holding posters supporting U.S. President Joe Biden after his 2020 presidential election victory against Donald Trump has been digitally altered to add slogans advocating for gun control.

Posts on social media platforms shared the altered image, in which the posters read, “Abolish the 2A” and “Give up your guns or we will take them.”

Comments and reactions to these posts ranged from criticism of white, middle-aged, liberal women to accusations of hypocrisy regarding freedom of speech and firearm ownership rights. The original photograph portrayed the women holding handmade posters with the messages “Biden Harris” and “You’re Fired.” This original image was shared on November 7, 2020, on the social media platform X by ABC7 Bay Area anchor Reggie Aqui, with a caption indicating the location as Dolores Park.

Additionally, ABC7 News published the unaltered image as part of a report celebrating Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ presidential victory, with the caption stating that supporters were holding “You’re Fired” signs at Dolores Park in San Francisco on the mentioned date.

The phrase “You’re fired!”, famously used by Trump during his tenure as host of the reality show “The Apprentice,” resurfaced as a taunt from Trump’s critics following his unsuccessful re-election bid in 2020, as reported by USA Today.

Furthermore, the T-shirt worn by the woman on the right has been digitally altered to display “Biden Harris 2024,” whereas the original photo showed her wearing a top with the text “EST. 1895 Reebok.”

According to Reuters, the image portraying women with posters advocating for gun control has been digitally altered.
