TEHRAN: Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has warned Israel and its ally, the United States, that the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas could lead to a situation spiraling out of control in the Middle East.

Speaking at a joint news conference in Tehran with South African counterpart Naledi Pandor, Amir-Abdollahian cautioned that if the alleged “crime against humanity and genocide in Gaza” did not stop immediately, the region could face unpredictable consequences at any moment.

Meanwhile, in Gaza, the humanitarian crisis intensified as the number of innocent Palestinians martyred in Israeli air strikes in Gaza since October 7 has risen to 4,651, including 1,873 women and 1,023 children, according to the health ministry. Furthermore, 14,245 innocent Palestinian civilians have been injured in the Israeli attacks.

Newborn Babies at Risk in Gaza Amid Israel’s Violence

Disturbingly, the lives of at least 120 newborn babies in incubators in Gaza’s hospitals are at risk due to fuel shortages. UNICEF spokesman Jonathan Crickx expressed deep concern, stating that if electricity supply to the incubators is cut, the lives of these infants are in jeopardy. Gaza’s health ministry had also previously reported that 130 premature babies were in danger of dying due to the lack of fuel. Approximately 160 women give birth each day in Gaza, where an estimated 50,000 pregnant women reside, as per the UN Population Fund.

Meanwhile, Israel has expanded planned evacuations of communities on its northern front with Lebanon. Last week, Israel initiated a plan to move residents out of 28 border-area villages and the nearby town of Kiryat Shmona, offering state-funded temporary accommodation. The Defence Ministry has now added 14 more communities to the evacuation list as clashes between Hezbollah and Israel continued.
