Islamabad United Beats Multan Sultans to Become PSL9 Champions

KARACHI: Islamabad United on Monday won the 9th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) by defeating Multan Sultans by two wickets.

The exciting game was held at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. The Islamabad United won the match on the last ball of the game, throwing the spectators into suspense and thrill. The latest defeat was the third consecutive failure of Multan Sultan in the finals of the PSL Editions.

Opting to bat first, Multan Sultans struggled to get off to a strong start with Yasir Khan falling to Imad Wasim after scoring just 6 runs. David Willy joined skipper Rizwan, but his innings also ended quickly as he was dismissed by Imad after contributing just 6 runs.

Skipper Rizwan managed to score 26 runs before Martin Guptill made a swift move to take a stunning catch at cow corner.

Multan Sultans lost 9 wickets and reached a total of 127 runs. Iftikhar Ahmed’s crucial 32 runs off 20 balls helped the team reach a competitive total of 160 runs target in their allotted 20 overs. Imad Wasim took five crucial wickets for Islamabad United to restrict Multan Sultans from scoring a big total.
