NEW YORK: Next month, Malala Yousafzai, the world’s youngest Nobel laureate, alongside her father Ziauddin Yousafzai, will be visiting the United States to participate in a fundraising gala supporting the educational initiatives of Pakistani singer Shehzad Roy’s Zindagi Trust and Durbeen.

Renowned for their tireless advocacy for girls’ education globally, the father-daughter duo will lend their support to Roy’s causes on March 1 and 2 in Florida and Texas, respectively.

Malala has emerged as a symbol of women’s rights, earning her the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 17 in 2014 for her dedicated work in championing children’s rights. Both Malala and her father will champion the initiatives benefiting girls enrolled in Zindagi Trust-affiliated schools and Durbeen, which focuses on teacher training.

Meanwhile, Shehzad Roy will grace the gala with a live performance, rallying support for the advancement of education in Pakistan through these two vital initiatives.

On the other hand, Durbeen is spearheading a revolution in teacher education across Pakistan, collaborating with government teacher colleges to produce qualified educators for public schools. In just five years, Durbeen has transformed infrastructure and introduced innovative teaching methodologies, now pioneering a 1.5-year graduate program to train teacher-educators, in collaboration with the University of Oxford.

The fundraising galas will take place on Friday, March 1, at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando, Florida, and on Saturday, March 2, at the Royal Sonesta in Houston Galleria, Houston, Texas.
