BEIJING: Local officials said on Thursday that a majority of capital goods experienced price increases in early March compared to late February.  This was revealed by China’s statistical authorities.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), out of 50 major goods categorized into nine groups such as seamless steel tubes, gasoline, coal, fertilizer, and chemicals, 27 reported higher prices, while 21 witnessed declines, and prices of two remained unchanged.

The NBS data also indicated a 4.4 percent increase in hog prices during this period. The recent statistics, which are released every 10 days, are derived from a survey conducted among approximately 2,000 wholesalers and distributors spanning 31 provincial-level regions throughout China.
