ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday reserved a ruling on the admissibility of a plea against the appointment of Mohsin Naqvi as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The lawyer for the petitioner argued that the caretaker prime minister was not authorised to appoint the PCB chairman. This authority rests with the elected prime minister only, he added.
IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq asked him whether there was a difference between an elected and an interim prime minister in the Constitution. Are you claiming that the interim prime minister does not have the authority to make this appointment? He asked.
Mohsin Naqvi’s Appointment as PCB Chief
It may be recalled here that the former caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar approved the appointment of Mohsin Naqvi as the PCB chief and he took charge of his post on January 22.
