ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Pakistan is a peace-loving and responsible nuclear nation but it would neither make any compromise on its sovereignty nor would tolerate any attempt of terrorists or any group aimed at destabilizing it. He has reiterated the unwavering pledge of Pakistan’s military to safeguarding the country. In his address during the armed forces’ parade ceremony commemorating Pakistan Day, the President vowed that the security of the country remains paramount.

Marking the historic event when the Muslims of the subcontinent envisaged a separate motherland, President Asif Ali Zardari lauded their determination and sacrifice.

In homage to the founding fathers of the nation, and all who contributed to the birth of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari highlighted the significance of the democratic government that has been formed post-election. Amidst myriad issues and challenges confronting the country, the President expressed confidence in Pakistan’s growth spirit, including its robust defence capabilities.

While admitting prevailing challenges and issues such as unemployment and poverty, Asif Ali Zardari reassured the people that nation stands fortified in its resilience. He added that development will be brought in several sectors under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), emphasizing collective responsibility in tackling issues of economy. The President said, “We all have the responsibility to address all the problems and issues together”.

Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud, who previously served as an F-15 pilot in Royal Saudi Air Force, was the guest of honour of the ceremony. Pakistan’s President thanked the friendly countries including Saudi Arabia, China, Turkiye, and the UAE for supporting Pakistan in the difficult times. The parade started with the national anthem, the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, after a special salute was paid to the national flag. The president reviewed the parade led by Parade Commander Brigadier Shahzad Ali Arshad which followed the fly-past formation of the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Air Force.

The contingents of the three armed forces and other security forces conducted a march while fighter planes presented aerobatic maneuvers. After the PAF fighters’ mesmerising show, Pakistan Army, PAF and Navy paratroopers showed their skills with free-falls. The PAF’s aerobatics display team enthralled spectators with their unmatched aerial maneuvers.
