Pakistan Establishes 11 Proof of Registration (PoR) Centers to Facilitate Afghan Refugees

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has opened 11 Proof of Registration (PoR) card modification centers across the country to facilitate Afghan refugees, in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The centers located in Quetta, Peshawar, Lahore, Islamabad, Lower Dir, Kohat, Haripur, Mianwali, and Nowshera will serve the card-holder Afghan refugees, with an expiry date of June 2023.

The PCM centers run by Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), would correct, update and modify information pertaining to PoR card holders.

Centers Inaugurate in Islamabad

Gohar Ahmed, Chief Project Officer for NADRA, Farid Ullah Jan, Commissioner for Afghan Refugees (HQ) and Noriko Yoshida, the UNHCR Representative in Pakistan formally inaugurated the Center in Islamabad on Thursday.

It is to be noted that Pakistan hosts around 1.3 million registered Afghan refugees who are holding PoR cards.
