Pakistan’s Army Chief Attends 43rd PARA Central Meet Closing Ceremony

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir on Tuesday attended the closing ceremony of the 43rd Pakistan Army Rifle Association (PARA) Central Meet at the Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) in Jhelum.

Pakistan Army’s media affairs wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement that the major shooting competition took place from October 3 to November 7, 2023. Over 2,000 participants, including personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Civil Armed Forces, such as Rangers (Sindh & Punjab), Frontier Corps, and Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts, as well as civilians, took part in the competition, said ISPR.

At the ceremony, the COAS and the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, NI (M), who was the guest of honor, presented trophies and medals to the winners and runners-up in each category.

In the Inter-Services matches, the Pakistan Army secured victory in all four contests, including the CJCSC, COAS, CAS, and CNS matches. Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force secured the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively. Pakistan Army claimed the overall Championship Trophy, while Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force achieved the 2nd and 3rd positions.

Naik Waseem of the Army Marksmanship Unit was awarded the President’s Cup National Challenge match trophy. Pakistan Army emerged as the winner of the Prime Minister’s ‘Skills at Arms’ Big Bore National Challenge, and Pakistan Rangers Punjab received the top prize in para-firing matches (infantry squad).

The highest military shooting honor, ‘The Master at Arms’ Trophy, was presented to Lance Naik Banaras of the 30 Frontier Force Regiment. The ‘Best Shot Match Trophy’ was awarded to Naik Sher Afzal of the 82 (SP) Medium Regiment Artillery.

Army Chief Applauds Participants’ Exceptional Marksmanship Skills

COAS expressed his appreciation for the participants’ exceptional marksmanship skills while emphasizing that shooting proficiency remains a fundamental objective of military training. He stated that shooting skills are the hallmark of a professional soldier.

Upon his arrival, the COAS was received by the Inspector General Training and Evaluation.
