Pakistan’s Finance Minister Vows to Work with IFC in Different Sectors

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that Pakistan wanted to closely work with different financial bodies and countries to boost trade activities in the region.

Apart from other engagements, in the US, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb also held a meeting with the Regional Vice President of International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the Middle East, Central Asia, Turkiye, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Hela Cheikhrouhou, in Washington DC on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the finance minister apprised the Regional Vice President of IFC on the ongoing reforms in the taxation, energy and privatization sectors in Pakistan. He expressed his resolve to work closely with IFC in the priority areas of securitization of remittances, mining, airport management and capacity-building.

Finance Minister Eyeing to Boost Trade with Other Countries

Earlier, while addressing the Atlantic Council and Pakistani-American citizens community in Washington, Muhammad Aurangzeb said his engagements in the US were underway in a positive environment and he hoped to get a new loan program from the IMF.

The minister also stressed upon on increasing trade activities with different countries including the US and China adding that Pakistan believed in trade and not aid.
