LAUSANNE:  Around six to eight Palestinian players are likely to compete at the Paris Olympics, with some set to be invited by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) even if they fail to qualify, its head Thomas Bach said on Saturday.

Bach said that the IOC had made a “clear commitment” those Palestinian players would be invited even if they do not qualify for the Games, which open on July 26, 2024.

The latest development takes place as Israeli forces have killed around fifteen more people including children and women in latest attacks on Rafah, Khan Younis, and Nuseirat refugee camp.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa said that around 8 people including women and children have been killed in two Israeli attacks in the Nuseirat camp. It also reported that a baby girl was also among four people killed in the camp. The Wafa maintained that 4 people were killed and 30 were wounded in an Israeli bombing of another house in the region. Arab media said that four people, including two kids have also been killed in an Israeli attack in Rafah.

Meanwhile, Hamas said it had received Israel’s response to its latest ceasefire proposal and will study it before submitting its reply over it, Hamas’s deputy Gaza head said in a statement.
