ISLAMABAD: Polish Ambassador to Pakistan Maciej Pisarski on Thursday pledged support to Islamabad in addressing energy challenges and boosting bilateral trade, which currently stands at nearly $1 billion.

Pisarski highlighted the strong bond between the two nations, stressing Poland’s dedication to strengthening the partnership and addressing Pakistan’s energy challenges through collaboration with Polish firms.

He expressed these views while addressing a ‘Meet The Press’ program at the National Press Club, where he was invited by the club’s office bearers.

Ambassador Pisarski prioritized bolstering bilateral relations, aiming to address Pakistan’s energy crisis through collaboration with Polish companies. Notable initiatives include the establishment of a vocational school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the “Safe Space” project for women in Hunza.

Acknowledging Poland’s role as a gateway for Pakistan’s exports to Europe, Ambassador Pisarski noted Polish investments in Sindh and other provinces. He underscored the amicable and close ties between Poland and Pakistan, with economic cooperation at the core. Furthermore, Poland extends humanitarian aid to Gaza, with Polish individuals volunteering in the region.

Highlighting Poland’s expertise in green technology, Ambassador Pisarski mentioned Polish companies’ participation in a recent exhibition in Lahore. Additionally, he addressed fraudulent activities related to embassy interviews and appointments, cautioning against imposters and clarifying the embassy’s fee-free policy.

He said that Poland stands as a staunch advocate for human rights, aligning closely with the principles outlined in the UN Charter. Demonstrating our commitment, we extend humanitarian aid to Gaza and actively engage in volunteer efforts in the region. Moreover, Poland has shown its support for the establishment of an independent state, as evidenced by our recognition of relevant resolutions, he said adding Palestine has an embassy in Poland.

Despite Poland’s commitment to human rights and humanitarian efforts, Ambassador Pisarski lamented the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, where civilians suffer from Russian aggression.

The president, Secretary, and Finance Secretary of the National Press Club at the end presented a shield to Ambassador Pisarski.

Prior to this, Ambassador Pisarski received a warm welcome and a bouquet of flowers from the club officials.
