RAWALPINDI: In an operation on Wednesday, the Regional Tax Office Rawalpindi sealed a counterfeit cigarette manufacturing facility located in the Jhangi Syedan area.
During the raid in Jhangi Syedan, the Regional Tax Office team discovered and closed down the illicit cigarette manufacturing factory. Moreover, the team confiscated cigarette production equipment and fake cigarettes with an estimated value in millions of rupees.
The clandestine factory, situated in the basement of a building, was engaged in the production of cigarettes under various brands. The fake cigarettes were distributed nationwide.
Acting on the directives of Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Rawalpindi, Tahmina Amir, and supervised by Additional Commissioner Headquarters, Riaz Khan, Assistant Director Shujaat Khan and his team carried out the raid and took legal action against the counterfeit cigarette manufacturing facility.
