Saudi Culinary Arts Commission to Organize Mobile Exhibition of National Dishes

RIYADH: The Culinary Arts Commission is set to launch a seven-month mobile exhibition featuring Saudi national dishes and sweets, commencing at the end of November, reported Saudi Press Agency.

The exhibition, designed to traverse the Kingdom, will creatively showcase iconic dishes such as “Jareesh” and the national dessert “Maqshush.”

This initiative aims to acquaint diverse segments of society with the richness of the national cuisine, emphasizing its integral role in the Kingdom’s identity and the historical significance of Saudi culinary traditions.

The interactive exhibition, titled the “Novelty of National Dishes and Local Areas Dishes” initiative, will be strategically positioned at key locations, including markets, public spaces, schools, and prominent local festivals and events.

The goal is to instill pride in national dishes and offer a distinctive sensory experience, guiding visitors on an immersive journey through Saudi national dishes and sweets.

Commencing in Riyadh, the exhibition will then travel to various regions, including Makkah, Madinah, Tabuk, Al-Jawf, the Northern Borders Region, Hail, Al-Qassim, the Eastern Region, Najran, Jizan, Asir, concluding its tour in Al-Baha.

The Culinary Arts Commission selected Jareesh and Maqshush as representative dishes due to their profound connection to Saudi culinary heritage, marked historical significance, and recognition by travelers, geographers, and Orientalists. These dishes play a crucial role in cultural exchange and contribute to the global promotion of traditional Saudi cuisine.

Through the exhibition, the Culinary Arts Commission aims to raise awareness about local heritage, foster a deep connection with Saudi food traditions across all age groups, provide an unforgettable experience for visitors, and instill pride in national dishes.
