LAHORE: The Sikh yatrees who came to Pakistan to attend Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s 417th martyrdom day (Jore Mela) will return to India on Saturday via the Wagah border crossing.

Returning back to India

Additional Secretary Shrines Rana Shahid Saleem, Pardhan Sardar Amir Singh of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC), and other committee members offered bouquets and presents to yatrees before sawing them off.  Sardar Gurbachan Singh, the leader of the Sikh yatrees party, told the media that the love they received in Pakistan was their most treasured gift and that the yatrees will spread that love when they will return to their country.

Rana Shahid said people on both sides of the border wanted to meet each other. The additional secretary pledged that whether they were Sikhs or Hindu pilgrims, the Pakistani government would grant as many religious visas as possible. He said historical religious sites and temples were the responsibility of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB).  He emphasized the board’s efforts to improve gurdwara and temple care.
