Sindh Games Sepak Takraw: Karachi Claims Men’s Trophy, Mirpurkhas Secures women’s Title

KARACHI: The Sepak Takraw event at the 18th Sindh Games 2024, held at North Karachi Gymkhana on February 24 and 25, was a thrilling spectacle. Jawad ul Hasan, the President of People’s Youth Organization District Central, graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest, while the closing ceremony was honored by former Test cricketer Tauseef Ahmed and Syed Muhammad Talha, the President of Naya Nazimabad Sports Complex, according to a news release on Monday.

Karachi division claimed the top spot in the men’s category, with Benazirabad and Hyderabad securing second and third places respectively. In the women’s division, Mirpurkhas emerged triumphant, followed by Karachi in second and Hyderabad in third.

The event was attended by notable figures including Pakistan Sepak Takraw Federation Secretary General Noushad Ahmed Khan, Chairman Sindh Sepak Takraw Association Dr. Muhammad Arif Hafeez, President Shabbir Ahmed, Event Manager Rehana Asif, RCAK Zone III Secretary Afzal Qureshi, Sindh Olympic Association representatives Rafat Jahan and Majida Hameed, DSO Benazirabad Abdul Rahim, Asghar Hussain, as well as referees Tahira Yasmin, Ali Gohar, and Zulfiqar Ali.

During the closing ceremony, Test cricketer Tauseef Ahmed expressed his delight at witnessing the Sepak Takraw event and praised Karachi’s men’s team for their exceptional performance. He advocated for better facilities for players and commended the organizers for their dedication. Syed Muhammad Talha, sharing his first-time experience of Sepak Takraw, praised the intense women’s final and congratulated Mirpurkhas for their victory over Karachi. He assured full support if the event is hosted in Naya Nazimabad.

Chairman Sindh Sepak Takraw Association Dr. Muhammad Arif Hafeez concluded the event by expressing gratitude to the players, officials, organizers, and chief guests, highlighting the success of the event.
